how is this transmission different?

In the past, in order to have a 6 speed Element, enthusiasts had to acquire the necessary parts to convert their Element 5 speed transmission into a 6 speed manual transmission. This conversion is still viable, but not all enthusiasts have the ability to dismantle and reassemble their existing transmission to add the 6th gear, its associated shift fork, and the shift selector needed, but the transmission that we are offering is much more than just an alternative to the 6 speed conversion. The gearing in these transmissions have lower and closer gear ratio’s 1st through 5th gear, and the same .659 6th gear as is used in a conversion. These transmissions are also equipped with a 5.33 final drive, compared to the Element 4.76 final drive found in the stock 5 speed transmission. So this transmission pulls better through the lower gears while still saving 500-600 rpms in 6th gear. In order for this transmission to work in an Element, the case must be modified to accept Element mounts, we also add detent springs, and shift selector springs (sourced from Hybrid Racing or Speedfactory). We also include a reverse lockout module from K Tuner. We do all of that so that the transmission is a direct bolt in to your Element and is fully functional. The detent springs and shift selector springs are needed so that no modification is required to the shifter mechanism in the car and reverse is easily accessible. We regularly record 23-24 mpg in our lifted shop Element that is equipped with an awning and roof top tent. When those accessories are removed, the fuel economy over the road increases a bit more.
