REAR TRAILING ARM MOUNT SUPPORT BRACKETS
As you likely know, many Honda Elements are afflicted with rust in the rear trailing arm area. Specifically where the front two bolts connect to the subframe. Classic Automotive is hard at work innovating parts to help keep your Element on the road for many years to come. When this area fails, it is considered a catastrophic failure, so preventative maintenance is a must. If you are unsure if your car needs attention in this area, you should check it immediately or take it to a trusted shop to have it checked. Or if you are local to North Carolina, feel free to contact us and we would be glad to inspect your RTA mounts. While this solution is a preventative measure it is by no means a fix if your RTA mounts are rusted out. We have criteria that your vehicle must meet to insure it is a good candidate for these support brackets. Pair these with our subframe connectors for the most stability in the area, and increase the overall stability and drivability of your Element.
I began developing these parts because we have started seeing more and more cars from above the rust belt making their way here to the south. Low mileage Elements that are being sold at premium prices, yet have significant rust underneath them. Thus the need for parts like these when the Element is not in need of a complete weld in patch panel.
Unlike the Canadian recall parts, our RTA mount support brackets weld in, and are fully compatible with dropped subframes and lifted Elements. The criteria for use is that both RTA bolts must be able to be removed, as they will have to come out in order to install these support brackets. There can be no large rust holes in the RTA mount itself. These brackets simply stabilize the area.
