INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

REPAIR

LITE BLUE

All 2003-2006 Honda Elements have the same issue with the instrument clusters eventually failing. Sometimes that means the bulbs flicker for years, with motivated thwacks on the upper dash bringing them back for a time. Sometimes it means the entire cluster gauges and all fail while driving back south from Maine, somewhere in rural New Hampshire (this happened to me). Perhaps you have watched a YouTube video that suggested wedging cardboard, or a nickel, or two dimes under the connector? My two “favorite” wedges that I’ve found in repairing these clusters are a piece of rubber hose that was cut and laid out flat, and my all time favorite was a pair of whittled down toothpicks that were hot glued into place to splint up the connector. The issue is cold solder joints, and eventually the solder joints to the main connector fail. The only way to permanently resolve the issue is to re-solder the pins to the connector. Our repair involves disassembling the entire cluster, re-soldering both main connectors, cleaning the PCB (printed circuit board), checking the PCB for any other damage, applying a connectivity polymer to the connector joints, then adding your preferred color of LED bulb, and finally testing to insure a good repair. We currently offer lite blue, dark blue, purple, red, or green LED’s. Turn around time for the repair is normally one business day, and I have repaired over 150 of these clusters now. Fully warranteed. Contact for pricing.
